Last week the Snowflake โ๏ธ Data Superhero Class of 2025 has been announced by Amilee Alesna. I am one the 105 worldwide Data Superheroes recognized by Snowflake. Looking back at my first avatar, created by Francis Mao, I realized that I am an OG Data Superhero since 2018.
Back then the Data Superhero program had just started and was not much more than a recognition from Snowflake. I think Angelica Coleman was the first Community Manager. The program has evolved big time since then. Elsa Mayer and Howard Lio gave the program more body and took it beyond just swags. Now itโs Amileeโs turn to take the program to another level. Looking at her background and her start at the end of 2024, the program is in very good hands.
Snowflake Data Superhero Original
In the early days of the Snowflake Data Superhero program, Kent Graziano was an active member of the community. Kent was one of the reasons I started a career in Snowflake. Thanks to Kent I had the privilege to take the stage during a few occasions.
Snowflake Data Superheroes - Origins.

Snowflake Group By
I was invited to give a presentation at GROUP BY Snowflake on โHow to execute the T in ELT.โ The full presentation can be viewed in this video.
GROUP BY Snowflake was an opportunity for true data heroes around the world to come together virtually and learn how expert users leverage Snowflake. For me, it was a great opportunity to become more involved in the Snowflake Community and a fantastic chance to help others and myself to improve.
Snowflake Summit
Snowflake Summit is Snowflakeโs annual conference. It brings together data professionals to explore the latest innovations in Data, AI, and cloud computing. The event features keynotes from Snowflake executives, demoโs, hands-on labs, product announcements, training sessions, and networking opportunities.
I had the privilege to attend all summits. The first summit in 2019 was a relatively small one in an hotel in San Francisco. Then because of Covid it was 2 times in a row a virtual version. As from 2022 onwards, the summit became bigger and bigger. Two times Las Vegas I. two separate venues having to cross โThe Stripโ while sweating your pants off. Last year, back in San Francisco in the Moscone Center.

Snowflake User Group Netherlands
Many Snowflake Data Superheroes are hosting User Groups in their region. In 2022 I was interviewed by Jakob Brandel and we discussed how to uncover the unblemished truth of Snowflake. At Snowflake Summit 2024 I discussed with Monique Lupu how to setup the Dutch Chapter again. I got into contact with Jason C Teetz. In October 2024 I organized the first meetup as a Chapter Lead of the Snowflake User Group Netherlands.
Next Steps
I look forward to another year in the Data Superhero Class of 2025. The next Dutch User Group meetup is scheduled. Snowflake Summit 2025 is also in the agenda. It will be great to meet with new and returning Data Superheroes.
